ARCH ENEMY – www.archenemy.net

They will release their first DVD, Live Apocalypse, on August 8th, which is chock-full of phenomenal live footage, in-depth interviews and promotional video clips. The group are currently in the midst of the European festival season and will make their return to the U.S. late summer in support of their critically acclaimed new album, Doomsday Machine, which debuted at #87 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and recently surpassed the 70,000 U.S. SoundScan plateau. They also recently completed a new video for the track “My Apocalypse” with director Roger Johansson (In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, Soilwork). Click the link below to check it out.

Mike Amott (guitars) checks in with the following report: "Hail ARCH ENEMY fans! Just want to drop a few lines and thank everyone who came out and had fun with ARCH ENEMY at the Sweden Rock and Download festivals and what a great time it was. After our show at Sweden Rock, which went surprisingly well with only a few technical problems (standard procedure at festivals), we had to pack our gear together quickly and race down the highway to Copenhagen Airport for an evening flight to the UK to play the Download festival in the early afternoon the next day. The ARCH ENEMY show there also went well, although much shorter than what we normally play at festivals - only 30 minutes, we made a big impact. They told us that we had 40,000 people in the audience when we played - that’s the biggest show we’ve ever played!

The total capacity at DOWNLOAD was 65,000 and it was sold-out, I watched the Metallica set from the side of the stage and they opened up with “Creeping Death” and you gotta love that.
We hung out with friends (seemed like I knew everyone there) and did a signing session at the KERRANG! tent (amazing) and few of us even stayed on for the Metal Hammer awards in London on the Monday. After that we were pretty wrecked and have spent the last few days picking up the pieces. Basically, we enjoyed perfect summer weather and strong shows at both performances – a good start to our European festival summer!

Next up, is Hellfest (France) and Graspop (Belgium) and we are headlining the 2nd stage at both these festivals and we are prepared to blow these up – be there or be, well…not metal"

“Doomsday Machine is a stellar effort all around and makes ARCH ENEMY a solid contender to be this year’s Ozzfest breakthrough band.”

BEHEMOTH – www.behemoth.pl

Polish extreme metal titans BEHEMOTH will embark on The Sounds of The Underground on July 8th and it is definitely the group’s biggest U.S. touring opportunity yet. They recently wrapped up a highly successful run on the Masters of Chaos tour this past spring as direct support to Morbid Angel. The tour also included labelmates Krisiun and Despised Icon in the support slots. This was the first U.S. run in which BEHEMOTH had the opportunity to play an extended 45-minute set and it was also their fourth nationwide U.S. trek in support of their critically-acclaimed record, Demigod. The stunning video for “Slaves Shall Serve” quickly caught people's attention with its intense and controversial imagery. BRAND NEW SIN – www.brandnewsin.com

The Syracuse-based quintet - whose self-titled 2002 debut was reissued last month -recently recorded a new version of the entrance theme music for the 7-foot, 500-pound ECW wrestler known as Big Show, who recently "defected" from WWE's Raw roster. The theme, "Crank It Up," was first heard on the new compilation CD WWE: Wreckless Intent, which three

weeks ago debuted at #8 on the Billboard charts. "Crank It Up" made its broadcast debut June 11 on ECW's "One Night Stand" pay-per-view.

Last week, BRAND NEW SIN took a break from recording its third album in Brooklyn, N.Y. with producer Joey Z (Life of Agony) to visit WWE's studios in Stamford, Conn. There, the band - under the watchful eye of WWE music guru Jim Johnston - recorded an acoustic version of "Crank It Up," which will soon be posted as an exclusive streaming download on WWE.com. Additionally, BRAND NEW SIN appeared alongside WWE wrestler Carlito at a Wreckless Intent in-store signing session last Sunday at a Best Buy in their hometown of Syracuse.

After playing two shows later this week - one alongside Seemless, the other at an annual festival in upstate New York called "Nikstock" – the band will return to New York City next week to master their as-yet-untitled new album with George Marino (Metallica, AC/DC, Guns N' Roses, Aerosmith, Kiss) at Sterling Sound. A fall release is expected.

DIECAST – www.bhcdiecast.com

They are currently in Miami recording their highly anticipated new album, Internal Revolution, with longtime producer Paul Trust. The effort will be mixed by the acclaimed Tue Madsen (Himsa, The Haunted) at Antfarm Studios in Denmark. This marks the group's first effort with an entirely new rhythm section composed of Dennis Pavia (drums) and Brad Horion (bass). DIECAST are now more focused and determined than ever and can't wait to show the world what they are truly capable of creating.

Paul Stoddard (vocals) checks in with the following report: "To our fans and friends, let there be no worries at all. DIECAST are now stronger than ever. We just finished writing our new record, Internal Revolution, and I think it's going to be one of the most diverse records to hit our scene to date. Guaranteed to be something for everyone. We'll continue to check in throughout the recording process. Thanks to all of our fans and friends who have been supporting us through all the shit we've been going through. We can't wait to party with every one of you. See you all soon."

The group will be posting frequent video clips documenting their studio progress. Click below to check out the first few installments.

EYES OF FIRE – www.eyesoffire.us

The dynamic Orange County-based quintet EYES OF FIRE recently completed the “One Nation Undivided” tour with Ill Nino, God Forbid, Silent Civilian and Bleed The Sky. The Jagermeister-sponsored, 28-city major market assault, was the group’s first major national run in support of their critically acclaimed new album, Prisons, which was recorded at Grandmaster Recorders (Tool, NIN) with renowned producer Matt Bayles (Mastodon, Isis). A video for the track “It All Dies Today” was shot by acclaimed director Gary Smithson (Exodus, High On Fire) and click the link below to check it out. mms://mp3.centurymedia.com/stream/eyesoffire/prisons/eyesoffire_italldiestoday.wmv

Matt Fisher (vocals, bass) checks in with the post-tour report: “Our new video for ‘It All Dies Today’ is this week’s Bang of the Week on Headbangers Ball. The video is also on the HBB main page and can be viewed at www.mtv2.com/#series/10896 or launch the our E-card at

www.myspace.com/eyesoffire1

Also, it seems that EYES OF FIRE was also the 3rd most requested song on the Music Choice Cable Metal channel. We are very excited about this and hope to keep the momentum going with more touring in the near future. We just finished the "One Nation Undivided" tour with Ill Nino and God Forbid, Silent Civilian and Bleed the Sky. This was an extremely fun tour and we would like to thank all the bands, crew, staff and especially the friends and supporters across the nation who made this tour happen! It was an alchoholocaust to say the least. EYES OF FIRE are working hard to get back out on the road immediately and hope to stay out through the rest of the year. See you all soon.”

Prisons further develops the sound introduced on EYES OF FIRE’s debut offering, Ashes To Embers, which lashed out with a barrage of intensity, leaving the listener victim to a sonic pummeling, while still walking a fine line between melody and brutality. The album stunned critics and fans alike. The group succeeds in areas where most bands today don’t even bother venturing: songwriting, hooks and emotion, drawing similarities to such cult icons as Anathema, Katatonia and Neurosis.

“Once the EYES OF FIRE addiction takes hold with Prisons, kicking the habit becomes a near impossibility.”

-- Blabbermouth

“Prisons is an excellent album that is more than worthy of its hype.”

-- Brave Words

“Prisons will be the first disc of 2006 to make your mind melt.”

-- Chord

“Prisons is triumphant and memorable.”

--Revolver

“Prisons is a monster of an album to behold.”

-- The PRP

“EYES OF FIRE are a deadly emotional pedigree for all to behold.”

-- Unrestrained

GOD FORBID – www.godforbid1.com

They also recently wrapped up “The One Nation Undivided” U.S. tour as direct support to Ill Nino in support of IV: Constitution of Treason. The group’s stunning, emotional video for the track “To The Fallen Hero” can also currently be viewed at AOLmusic.com, Music Choice On Demand, MySpace and Yahoo Music, or you can also check it out at the following location listed below. The epic clip, shot by the acclaimed director Shane Drake (Fall Out Boy, Hawthorne Heights), is the group’s most ambitious concept yet and will easily catch your attention and set itself apart from the pack. mms://mp3.centurymedia.com/stream/godforbid/constitutionoftreason/godforbid_tothefallenhero.wmv

GOD FORBID’s critically acclaimed new album, IV: Constitution of Treason, entered the Billboard Top 200 chart at #119 in its first week of release, and it's the first time the group has ever appeared in the Top 200 charts. Produced by Jason Suecof (Trivium) and Eric Rachel (Atreyu, Dillinger Escape Plan), the album -- a socially and politically charged vision of a post-apocalyptic world -- further displays the incredible creativity and talent of one of the most highly-respected bands in metal today.

"IV: Constitution of Treason is an extraordinary metal record."

LACUNA COIL – www.thekarmacode.com

LACUNA COIL will make their much-anticipated return to the U.S. on June 29th as part of this year’s Ozzfest main stage lineup. The massive summer trek will also coincide with the release of the new single “Enjoy The Silence,” which will impact commercial radio on July 11th. The video for the track, completed by the directorial team Fort Awesome, who also shot the group’s acclaimed “Our Truth” clip, will make its Fuse and MTV2 debut the same week the track hits radio.

Since its release, LACUNA COIL’s new album, Karmacode, has SoundScanned over 100,000 units and spent a total of eight weeks on the Billboard Top 200 chart. The album’s success can be partly contributed to the strength of its lead-off single, “Our Truth,” and stellar live performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, which took place last month. The track was added by over 75 Commercial Rock and Alternative Radio outlets (and played by well over 125 Commercial Outlets), becoming a Top 30 Active Rock single while spending over 2 1/2 months on the Top 40 Active Rock Radio Chart and reaching a monitored Arbitron audience of over 11 million listeners.

LACUNA COIL have also scheduled a number of high profile off-dates this summer with the likes of Avenged Sevenfold and Disturbed, among others. Their complete touring itinerary is below.

Andrea Ferro (male vocals) checks in with the following report: “Hi everyone, just checkin’ in from home. We are almost done with our round of European festivals, and it’s really been a blast! Some shows, we played in front of some of the biggest crowds we’ve ever seen, and with so many of our favorite bands. The summer is finally kickin’ in and things are looking great for us since we will be performing on the main stage of Ozzfest this year. I clearly remember what happened in 2004 when this new band from Italy first had the pleasure of taking part in this mythical event. We couldn’t believe we were really going to spend the summer playing in the U.S. in front of so many people each day while being able to hang out with all those icons. It really was a dream come true! To be back this year on the main stage is once again something very unexpected and a true honor for us. We hope to see ya all there ready to jump and sing along with the new songs. See you all very soon.”

LACUNA COIL and Music Choice, the leading multi-platform music network, have joined forces to bring you exclusive material that no hard rock/metal fan will want to miss. An amazing live version of their hit single "Our Truth" is currently available throughout the month of June on Music Choice On-Demand, the most-popular free video-on-demand music service available in millions of digital cable homes nationwide.

"One of the most anticipated releases of 2006."

-- Alternative Press

"Karmacode is LACUNA COIL’s most polished album yet."

-- Blender

“LACUNA COIL’s Karmacode is a hard rock hit.”

-- LA Times

"Karmacode will surely be one of the hottest releases of 2006."

-- Revolver

"An artist to watch. Ethereal, entrancing and haunting, this is timely yet timeless music."
-- Rolling Stone

MANNTIS – www.manntis.com

The explosive Southern California quintet MANNTIS recently headed out on a massive U.S. tour as direct support to Dope that kicked off on June 14th and runs through August 7th. The trek also features Bleed The Sky (who MANNTIS will swap the direct support slot with every other night) and A New Revolution. The group just returned from a highly successful run on the European version of Sounds of the Underground (Chimaira, Madball) and their live performance is now deadlier than ever. MANNTIS also completed a new video for the track “Weathered Soul” with up-and-coming director Robert Hall (Josh Todd, feature film Lightening Bug). The clip is now in heavy rotation on MTV2’s Headbangers Ball, and you can also click the link below to check it out.

mms://mp3.centurymedia.com/stream/Manntis/sleepinyourgrave/manntis_weatheredsoul.wmv

Jake Sirokman (vocals) checks in with the following report: ““Well what can I say, on the road again where we should be. The “Summer of Sin” tour is going better then I would ever imagine, the crowds have been outstanding and all the bands have been super cool. We always enjoy meeting up with our good friends in Bleed The Sky, our prayers go out to Wayne their guitar player who is currently in the hospital for reasons we are not sure of.

“In other news, we are currently working on some new material for our upcoming album and will be taking a couple of months off from the road for this and hopefully get into the studio sometime in November/December. This is it for now and hopefully see you all in a town near you!”

The group’s critically acclaimed new album, Sleep In Your Grave, produced by Cameron Webb (Danzig, Motorhead, Social Distortion), is now available and goes straight for the jugular with its scorching guitar work and pummeling rhythmic assault. You do not want to miss out on one of the most exciting new acts to hit the scene in recent years. Look below for their complete touring schedule.

“A fast blast of solid metalcore that has a lot of fight in it.”

MAROON – www.maroonhate.com

The German powerhouse quintet MAROON have just released their highly anticipated new album, When Worlds Collide, to rave reviews. The band added a whole new dimension and depth to the watered down metalcore scene and quickly became one of Europe’s most crushing live acts. It’s ironic that their buzz never made its way over to the U.S., as they helped pioneer the genre that has been thriving in North American for the past few years. Prepare yourself for the punishment that is about to ensue.

Taking hardcore ethics to a whole new level, MAROON are quickly outplaying and outlasting their contemporaries around the globe. Formed in early 1998, the vegan, straightedge five-piece is clearly showing their dedication and no signs of slowing down. Their unique sound offers a heavyweight mix of brutal hardcore molded with metal riffs, which infuses strong and effective melodic elements. Their major influences are primarily drawn from straightedge bands like Earth Crisis, while still remaining true to their passion for old-school visionaries like At The Gates, The Haunted and Iron Maiden.

Andre Moraweck (vocals) further describes the band’s excitement over the new deal: “Hey everybody we are very excited to release our new album, When Worlds Collide, and this effort is the next logical step for us as a band. It’s definitely our most aggressive offering yet. We hope that all the fans in the U.S. join the army of darkness and make this album’s campaign a great one.

“This album is just plain brutal and features more classic metal influences. The disc also features guest appearances by Barney Greenway (vocals) of Napalm Death, Roger Miret (vocals) of Agnostic Front and Mikkel Sandager (vocals) of Mercenary. Our main goal this summer is to extensively tour the U.S., so keep an eye out for the new album and upcoming shows in your area. We hope to see you all very soon.”

The band's 2004 sophomore release, Endorsed By Hate, was a stunning portrayal of passion and anger that caught the underground metal scene by storm, but with When Worlds Collide the group are now out to prove that they are one of the genre’s elite.

Click below to check out the stunning brand new track “Wake Up In Hell” and prepare yourself for the barrage of aggression.

“MAROON is built on aggression and speed pushing their lacerating, very heavy tones to the max.”

-- Brave Words

“MAROON are possessed by a profound hatred for humanity. They have enough savage anger to cause some serious damage.”

POISONBLACK – www.poisonblack.com

As Sentenced fades into the cold white light a new shadow of despair unfolds upon the gloomy Finnish landscape, which is sure to haunt the soul with its somber and melancholic composite. This abundance of sorrow is better known as Poisonblack, who features ex-Sentenced frontman Ville Laihiala on lead vocals and guitars. The group has returned with their highly anticipated sophomore release, Lust Stained Despair, which is a voracious hard rock assault laden with mesmerizing gothic overtones.

Poisonblack was formed towards the end of 2000 as Laihiala felt the urge to pursue his ambition as a guitarist after playing the instrument on the side for 17 years. This all began to take shape after he got together with a couple of talented, close friends with whom he had jammed in various bands before, among them his soulbrother Janne Kukkonen on bass. Both of them not only shared a long history in various bands, but also embrace the same musical vision. J.P. Leppδluoto (Charon) was soon enlisted to handle vocal duties after Laihiala met him back on their Crimson tour and knew his vocal style was a perfect fit for this new project. They released their debut album, Escapexstacy, in early 2003 to rave reviews, but the band’s touring would be close to nonexistent due to member’s obligations to their main bands.

Now with Sentenced put to rest Laihiala’s main priority is Poisonblack and in early 2006 they entered Tonebox Studios in their hometown to begin work on their next epic. The effort was mixed and mastered at Antfarm Studios by the acclaimed Tue Madsen (Himsa, The Haunted) and is definitely a must for Amorphis, HIM and Katatonia fans. With a more focused lineup in place the group are poised to deliver a release that should add a glimmer of hope to an otherwise bleak world.

Lust Stained Despair is set for an August 22nd release.

SHADOWS FALL – www.shadowsfallrocks.com

The new critically acclaimed SHADOWS FALL album, Fallout From The War, had a very impressive first week at retail debuting at #83 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, while SoundScanning over 12,700 copies. Fallout From The War is a must-have for the band’s dedicated following as each of the album’s eleven tracks is either a brand-new, original SHADOWS FALL track, an exclusive, brand-new cover song, or a newly re-recorded version of rare material from over the years.

STRAPPING YOUNG LAD – www.strappingyounglad.com

These Canadian extremists have just announced a slew of major Ozzfest off-dates with such heralded acts as Hatebreed and Unearth, among others. Be sure to scroll down to view their complete summer touring itinerary. The group have triumphantly returned with The New Black, a stunningly well-defined and more diverse effort that is soon to be a landmark in the epic pantheon of heavy metal. The much anticipated new album is set for a July 11th release and the group, led by singer, songwriter and producer Devin Townsend, have redefined their sound, creating what is soon to be the definitive offering of their already stellar career. SYL recently completed a new video for the track “Wrong Side” with renowned director David Brodsky (God Forbid, The Red Chord). Look for the clip to make its Fuse and MTV2 debut early next month.

For an early sample of the record click the link below and hear why SYL thinks you suck.
http://mp3.centurymedia.com/syl/thenewblack/syl_usuck.mp3

The album’s U.S. touring campaign kicks off on June 29th when SYL hits the second stage at Ozzfest, alongside such acclaimed acts as Atreyu, Bleeding Through and Unearth, among others. Townsend further describes his excitement over being a part of Ozzfest and sheds some light on their new disc: “We were very inspired with the idea of doing Ozzfest, and the concept we are running with on this record is really based around abhorring the current music scene, yet being a part of it in some weird way. SYL is ready to be a subversive product for the unwitting 14-year-olds to scream along with. We also intend to sprinkle a little ugly around all the pretty bands this year. You can think of us as the proverbial pubic hair in the cheesecake of this year’s festival. See you all soon.”

Century Media Records also just re-released STRAPPING YOUNG LAD’s 1995 debut album, Heavy As A Really Heavy Thing, which changed the metal world forever. The re-issue features a re-mastered version of this classic debut, 4 bonus tracks, the “S.Y.L.” video and a 12-page booklet with extended liner notes from Devin himself.

--Metal Maniacs

"STRAPPING YOUNG LAD's utterly psychotic brand of metal has been taken to new extremes."

THE HAUNTED – www.the-haunted.com

Swedish thrash titans THE HAUNTED have just completed the recording process for the highly anticipated follow-up to 2004’s critically acclaimed rEVOLVEr album. The new effort was recorded in Denmark at Antfarm Studios with renowned producer Tue Madsen (Himsa, Kataklysm) and it looks to be their most accomplished work to date. The group spent months working on the new material pushing themselves to create something unique that combines certain elements of their previous efforts, while ultimately forging ahead in new, unexplored directions. An announcement in regards to the title of the new album and its release date will follow over the next few weeks.

Peter Dolving (vocals) checks in with the following post studio report: "Oh, the power of the internet and wireless computers. I'm currently sitting on the john writing this report thinking about all you good folks out there, while my kids are watching cartoons in the living room. We just finished a new album and I gotta say, I'm proud as fuck. It's bigger, better, madder and thicker. Hell, that's the weird part with the album business - how the hell to describe what you've just done. Anyway, it rocks. Big time. Really. Per (drums) told me at rehearsals a couple of days ago, ‘If I died tomorrow I couldn't be more satisfied so if people don't like it, fuck them.’ I couldn't agree more. We started writing around Ozzfest last year, bouncing around ideas, recording anything that came to mind without the old ‘more or less metal’-filter, and pretty much knew that we were sick of the whole 900 bpm-chugga-chugga-AAARRRGGGGH-PUKE-end. We wanted to do something we'd just touched upon with our previous four albums. This album is simply more diverse, dynamic and HEAVY AS FUCK. Bands like Trouble, Autopsy, Ganx, Masters Of The Universe, King Crimson and early Metallica have all really had a great influence on us as a band, and I think this album really draws a lot in color from those artists.

“We just completed the recording process and are now putting the artwork together with Manne Andreasson, a bearded wierdo and dear friend or ours. Working with Tue Madsen's been great. The dude is down-to-earth man, and working with someone who's got his shit together like that is a joy. Anders spent six weeks in Denmark getting guitars down while working with Per and Jonas and then helping me out while I was doing vocals. Before we started recording, he was telling us he didn't want to do ANY solos on this record, but in the end we got him to do four really cool pieces. I think we've managed to find an immense sound: the drums are clearer, heavier and less processed, and we've even got acoustic guitars, congas, strings and loads of weird noise manipulations going on. As far as the vocals go, I honestly didn't know I could even sing some of the stuff. I was nervous as fuck when I got down to Tue's studio, and felt like a complete rookie: ‘Shit, how the hell am I going to live up to this.’ Turns out all I had to do was keep running my miles and warm up like when we're on tour. You can look forward to an album we're proud as fuck of, and we're looking forward to seeing you all again as soon as we head out for tour. It'll be ugly as ever, I'm sure. Stay sick.”
