What a shock...MANILLA ROAD goes Thrash Metal? The opening track "Whitechapel" is the fastest song MANILLA ROAD ever did. It is pure Thrash Metal including the typical harsh vocals! First I was a little disappointed about the new style of the band but you have to listen to the whole record because this is a real MANILLA-album with just a few new influences. "Return of the Old Ones" or "Helicon" are typical MR-songs that could also been on previous albums. But the now more rough style fits to the lyrical concept of OUT OF THE ABYSS. Pure horror! Clive Barker here, Jack The Ripper there...really scary! And the band looks a little more "evil" on the pic on the back of the record...

This album is not my favorite of the band but after a few times of intensive listening and a few days later I also loved this album. Still it is a contrast to ffor example CRYSTAL LOGIC but why not? The band never left their own roots - even not on this album! Every musician should have the freedom to experiment and should not be slave to the recording industry.
