OVERLORDE
- RETURN OF THE SNOW GIANT (2004) OVERLORDE - OVERLORDE 2000 - DEMO CD
Four years after I reviewed their fantastic 4-song demo released in December 2000,
which received airplay on numerous radio shows and gained excellent reviews from online
and printed zines, New Jersey's Overlorde are back with their first CD titled "Return Of The Snow Giant" that is
being released on December 17th on Sonic Age Records. If you read my previous review, you'll see that I
liked their music very much. If you have a copy of their demo, you already know what to expect
here -- Classic U.S. Metal at its VERY best, with power and class. "Return Of The Snow Giant" was recorded and
mixed at the renowned Trax East studios and is thirteen
songs of pure delight for your ears with an excellent production, with the drums and bass
sounding bombastic and guitars just in your face - not forgetting the stunning vocals of
Bobby "Leather Lungs" Lucas (who sang on the first two Seven Witches CDs as well as on
the Exhibition CD), whose voice is wide ranging and perfectly suited to this type of music,
his vocal approach changing from song to song, indeed even within songs. Overall, a majestic
opus that will capture any Classic Metal fan! If you love Saxon, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest,
then Overlorde is the band for you. www.overlorde.com.

Overlorde 2000 marks the return of the New Jersey band whose 1987 EP is regarded as one of
the best US Power Metal releases of the 80's. The three founding members (Dave Wrenn -drums-
Mark Edwards -guitar- and John Bunucci -bass-) have been joined by former SEVEN WITCHES
vocalist Bobby "Leather Lungs" Lucas and finally, more than 10 years later, the band is back with
this demo called "Overlorde 2000". Fans of old-school U.S. metal and traditional metal will
love this demo! The four songs "Blackness", "Hell Hath No Fury", "Ogre Wizard" and "Metallic
Madness" are powerful metal with top notch guitars and solid riffs, bombastic drums and
excellent high-pitched vocals. It's very difficult to pick one track and point it as the
best, so I would choose "Ogre Wizard" as my favorite one, the guitar riff is very Judas Priest-like... great!!
No effects, no additives, just 4 guys jamming away playing METAL which is welcome after
hearing some of the effects that some bands use to enhance their sound nowadays. The band financed
the demo themselves, and the overall sound quality is very good. If classic, powerful,
truly old school metal is your brand of preferred metal, Overlorde is simply a band you can't afford
to miss. Let's hope we don't have to wait too long to hear some new material from these guys.
Oh! and don't think this is retarded retro stuff, this is Heavy Metal for
the new Millenium! Contact, order of the demo CD or join the fan club "Force Recon":
