Tierra Santa are coming from La Rioja
(one of the most reputed wine-growing regions in Spain) and after the release of their
latest album "Tierras De Leyenda" and their succesful European tour they
are harvesting a very positive response along Europe with their classic-rooted Melodic
Metal. I saw Tierra Santa for the first time live in 1999 and their performance
was so overwhelming that I couldn't miss the chance to see them again
I reached the hall only a few minutes before the beginning, but a few minutes were left
to check out the Merchandise stand and to buy a brand new Tierra Santa Tour-Shirt
The guys from TIERRA SANTA took the stage
around 9:30 and... what can I say? they were in top form. What I saw was a very powerful,
energetic and tight performance. Playing tracks from "Legendario" and "Tierras De Leyenda",
their trademark tight sound and excellent musicianship once again showed what a bright
future should lay ahead for this band. Guitarist/vocalist Ángel played and sang splendidly
and drummer Iñaki & bassist Roberto were solid as a rock. The early part of the set
featured several newer songs, and a few favorites from the "Legendario" album.
Highlights included the wonderful "La Canción Del Pirata" and the fast "Caballo De Troya".
Ángel's voice sounded very clear, with no signs of fatigue. They opened with "Tierras De Leyenda",
followed immediately by "Sodoma y Gomorra", "La canción Del Pirata" and "Reconquista". WOW!!! was all I could say at this point.
Just coming out and playing 20 minutes of their powerful tunes was unreal. "Caballo De Troya"
was up next. This song should be a regular on the setlist from now on. It was incredible.
The set carried on with "Atlántida", "La Cruzada" and one amazing interpretation of one
of my personal favorites, "Legendario". They continued with the beautiful "Una Juventud Perdida",
"La Torre De Babel" and "El Bastón Del Diablo". They left the stage but everyone knew that
they weren't done, and 3 minutes later they came out and played "Séptima Estrella" and their
newest songs "El Laberinto Del Minotauro" and "Pegaso" (both from their latest single
"Cuando La Tierra Toca El Cielo") and ended the set with "Drácula", which made the crowd
go crazy. After that the guys said thank you and threw out picks. Well, the venue and the
sound weren't the best and there were only 100 fans, but the band was fantastic and the
response of the audience was good. If Tierra Santa ever come to your town don't pass up
the chance to see them! -Review & photos by Marina-
