Interviews

THESE ARE THE PEOPLE WHO OPERATE ON ME!

KING DIAMOND the man, myth and legend
Gee the guy rewrote the book on what vocalist could and could not do. He can do it all and knows when to do what to make it work, and that is his best gift. His voice and image inspired a new genre in metal and everything. What more could you ask from a guy or demon?
BEST MOMENTS: Welcome Home, Digging Graves, House Of God , Sleepless Nights , Come to the Sabbath , Melissa

WARREL DANE of NEVERMORE
Ahh the power and emotional push that this guy can muster is unreal. Makes me wonder if great vocalists are born or are made through force of will. He has as many vocal styles as there are emotions and then some. I believe he will play a major part in what vocalists will strive for in the future.
BEST MOMENTS: Sanity Assassin, Battle Angels, Next In Line , The Learning , The River Dragon , Four Walls

HARRY CONKLIN of JAG PANZAR
Harry brings the best of metal and the best of theatre in one complete package. Harry's voice can be just described in one word! "Beautiful" How many vocalists can you say that about? He can use his voice to create any atmosphere he desires whether its happy, excited or damned! He can hit the highs when he wants and never seems to overdo any certain style. WoW!
BEST MOMENTS:

Black,Call of the Wild,ShadowThief, ,Spectres of the Past,Tragedy of MacBeth, Moors,Scarlet Letter, Power Surge, Unworthy

BOBBY LUCAS of OVERLORDE
Most of the people on this list have one thing in common, besides the fact that they are awesome vocalists, that is the fact that all of them are the major players in the past and present of heavy metal. What about the future of heavy metal?? Well fear not my friend the future of metallic vocalists is well defended by the man know as Bobby Lucas! Since his early days of Seven Witches to his present days with Overlorde and Exhibition this vocal monster is easy on the old ears! Imagine every thing you loved about Dio, Halford and Dickenson and combine it and put it in one person and there you have Mr. Lucas! I shit you not! All that history blended perfectly with his own vocal style! Nuff Said!
BEST MOMENTS:

Seven Witches, Ogre Wizard, Mark of the Wolf, The Answer, Legend Of Sleepy Hollow , In a Small Childs Room, Dying Embers

ERIC ADAMS of MANOWAR
Power and more power is what you get from Eric's voice, never disappointing and always balls to the wall. No wonder, why alot of new power metal bands wanna have a vocalist like him. All ranges can be covered and its always loud! He help set the standard for some of the stuff we listen to today!
BEST MOMENTS:

Carry On , Metal Daze , Manowar , Cult of the Damned , Spirit Horse , Thor , Power

BLAZE BAYELY of BLAZE
Yea Yea...I know! But piss off! I think he rules! His voice is all power and gloom! Its not mine or his fault that Maiden hasn't grown and all the bands around them have! Plus his doom and gloom style was more how Steve Harris and Prof. ManiC the introverts feel, then happy go lucky Bruce's voice. I'll get anything he does without question and I'll like it! Plus he wears a backwards cap like me!
BEST MOMENTS:

Man Hunt , Money To Burn ,Lifestyles Of The Broke & Obscure, 2 a.m , Sign Of the Cross, WHOLE BLAZE CD

CHRIS BOLTENDAHL of GRAVE DIGGER
Not the most talented guy out of the pack. But does what he does with what he has got. Almost deathy but all power metal harmony. A blue collar vocalist with prime time creativity and heart. Can be as emotional and powerful as anyone in the scene.
BEST MOMENTS:

ANYTHING BY GRAVE DIGGER

MIKE MUIR of SUICIDAL TENDENCIES
Ahhh....Mike was the first guy who showed me what true expression through lyrics really meant. For the first time in my life I felt as if someone else really did understand the pain of existence like I did. Plus he questioned the same things in society and people I did. His lyrics made S.T live up to their name without a doubt. He still and always will be the king of emotional lyrics.
BEST MOMENTS: Can't Break Me Down, Love Vs. Loneliness, How Can I Laugh Tommorrow..., Nobody Hears, Trip At The Brain

WARREL DANE of NEVERMORE
Warrel IS the most thought provoking lyricist in metal right now! His lyrics are what you expect from a wise man from ancient Greece and not from a metal band from Seattle. They show his experience, intelligence and gift of actually seeing the truth instead of what the mind is programmed to see. Plus when he needs too he can write some pretty emotional stuff!
BEST MOMENTS: Fault Of The Flesh , Insignificant , Matricide , Next In Line , Tiananmen Man ,What Tomorrow Knows

MARTIN WALKYRIE of SKYCLAD
Martin is the king of play on words! His lyrics will make you wonder what else he is saying beneath the surface of the lyrics. He keeps you on your toes with his genius. He is very aware of goes on in the world and who messing up and will poke fun of them and social flaws in a hole without stooping to a lower level. If I only had have half his vocab.
BEST MOMENTS: Skyclad , Think Back and Lie Of England , No Deposit - No Return , Brimstone Ballet , A Bellyful of Emptyness

ALICE COOPER the man, myth and legend
He many not be as poetic or emotional as others but he has the balls to call it as he sees it. Plus he been exploring the darker side of the human psyche long before any other bands were, and I'm not just talking the shock rock aspect of it! I'm talking the down deep exploring of what really makes us tick!
BEST MOMENTS:

Brutal Planet , Quiet Room , Welcome To My Nightmare , Inmates, Black Widow ,

MIKE SCALZI of SLOUGH FEG / HAMMERS OF MISFORTUNE
Sounds like no one else on the planet. True underground genius. Makes the strangest riffs sound fricking heavy ass hell. Can't sing his praise enough. One of the reasons I picked up a guitar at middle rage. Good vocalist to top it off.
BEST MOMENTS: Life In The Dark Age, Warriors Dawn, Troll Pack, Highlander..hell anything he plays

ANDY LAROCQUE of KING DIAMOND
From Puffy Haired Soldier in King Diamond's army to mild mannered guitarist. Everything this guy touches turns to gold even the stuff he produces and engineers now a days.
BEST MOMENTS: All of IllWill, Welcome Home, Help!!, Digging Graves, Killer, Up From the Morgue, Family Ghost

KAI HANSEN of GAMMA RAY
If you doubt this guy, just look at all the copycat power metal bands that have been stealing his riffs and soloing style lately! Fast and precise as humanly possible is the best way to describe this machine! Truly fits into the guitar god mold.
BEST MOMENTS: GorGar, I'm Alive , I Want Out, Heal Me, All of Land of the Free, Valley Of The Kings , Heavy Metal Universe

STEVE RAMSEY of SKYCLAD
A genius who can mix the catchiness of folk and blend it perfectly with the assault of metal but yet doesn't get too fancy. A rare talent and brilliant songwriter.
BEST MOMENTS: Bury Me , The Disenchanted Forest, The Sinful Ensemble, Halo of Flies, Widdershrine Jig

JOEY DEMAIO of MANOWAR
He acts like he has a huge ego (not sure if its real or stage act) but he does have the bass playing skills and songwriting ability to back them up. Always plays and writes with power. Very in your face aggressiveness. An awesome showman and always makes sure people get their money worth. HAIL AND KILL!
BEST MOMENTS: Metal Daze, Manowar, Fighting the World, Thor, Spirit Horse Of The Cherokee , Number 1

DD VERNI of OVERKILL, BRONX CASKET COMPANY
Can be aggressive as hell or can mellow out like the best of them, but seems to be most brillant when hes bouncing between the two. Never seems to mess up live (or at least hides it well ). His songwriting ability is also top notch. Doesn't care about trends just does what he does! A true metal icon.
BEST MOMENTS: Every Overkill CD from Years of Decay and Both Bronx Casket Company CD's

JIM SHEPPARD of NEVERMORE
Plays heavy one second then progressive the next, what else can you say about him. Plus he did a whole tour minus his main finger...true dedication to metal and his band. A forgotten icon!
BEST MOMENTS: ALL SANCTUARY AND NEVERMORE SONGS

SNOWY SHAW of NOTRE DAME
Hee Hee seemed like for a while he was on every good cd metal put out ( king diamond, mercyful fate, illwill, mememto mori ) I for some reason I always just digged his stuff...not sure why just did. Maybe the tribal tattoos! Now he's doing a goth and horror band called Notre Dame kind of a black metal Vaudeville.
BEST MOMENTS: To many bands to pick from let alone songs!

KING FOWLEY of OCTOBER 31st / DECEASED
A diehard metal fan at heart!! Not many drummers make you wish that the damn vocalist and guitarists would get out of your way so that you can see what he's doing...and king is one of them. Pure aggression! And not a bad vocalist to top it all off!
BEST MOMENTS: Just trust me...Vocals and Drums is hard enough!

ROBBIE STOJ of PEGAZUS
Not what people would call a SKIN POUNDER, buts hits with his own style. He is like the proverbial turtle who wins the race because he is sure and steady. I always catch myself listening to see what he will do next. Im not a drummer guru but I'm sure I could pick his style out of a pack of drummers. He just sounds different!
BEST MOMENTS: Look to the Stars, Witches Hex,, Cry Out, BraveHeart, Headless Horseman
