Prof.ManiC: How will 'Transition' sound when compared to 'Breathe Deep.."? How will they be similiar and different?
Dan Delucie:
I think Transition has more depth and variety in the songwriting. There are some longer songs and more acoustic stuff. There are also more experimental lead and acoustic guitar sounds. Breathe Deep was more of one sound all the way through. Thereıs still a lot of fast stuff but more variety.
Prof.ManiC: What songs did you write the lyrics for and what do they address?
Dan Delucie:
I wrote all lyrics on Transition, From Dust to Life, A Passing Phase. These songs all deal with the evolution of the human race both past and future. This is sort of the main theme of the CD. I also wrote some of the lyrics on The Suffering, A Choice of Graves and First You Dream Then You Die.
Prof.ManiC: Will there be any vocal surprises by James or will it be pretty much vintage James?
Dan Delucie:
There will be some surprises where James experiments with some different characteristics of his voice. Most of the singing is clean and melodic but some is more aggressive but still with melody. There are also quite a few high screaming parts on this CD as well.
Prof.ManiC: What are some of the plans for the upcoming tour? Will you do the US again? With Who?
Dan Delucie:
No plans for touring yet. Just the Bang Your Head Festival in Germany.
Prof.ManiC: What bought about Perry leaving? How hard will it be to replace him? Anyone in mind for his replacement?
Dan Delucie:
It will be impossible to get someone as creative as Perry. It really sucks that he quit. It's depressing. We will find someone great though Iım sure.
Prof.ManiC: When i saw you guys with Iced Earth I was really impressed but what impressed me the most was Nardo going at his bass like a madman for the whole show, does he always work himself into a frenzy like that or did I just catch him on a good day?
Dan Delucie:
That's Nardo. Heıs is energetic both on and off stage. That's his typical way of performing High Energy!
Prof.ManiC: What do you think of Metal Blades promotion of DE, is it more or less what you were expecting? How long are you on Metal Blade?
Dan Delucie:
Metal Blade's promotion is basically what I expected. We are signed for three albums.
Prof.ManiC: How much influence does Carl Sagan and Stephen Hawkins have on the Destiny's End "Vastness of space and time when compared to us tiny specks" attitude? If not where does this attitude come from?
Dan Delucie:
Carl Sagan is a big influence...so is Hawking but not as much. These guys are my influences for the most part not the others in the band. One of my biggest influences is Isaac Asimov. Iım a science fiction fanatic. Science fiction themes are the biggest influence in my lyrics. Perry is really into a lot of the same stuff. He also turned me on to many great authors.
Prof.ManiC: With you guitar playing what do you consider your strengths and weaknesses?
Dan Delucie:
I consider my precision and technique to be my strength. I find my biggest challenge is not repeating myself .
Prof.ManiC: What are some of your favorite bands that are fairly new to the scene besides Destiny's End?
Dan Delucie:
I think Labyrinth and Nevermore are good. I prefer the old metal from the eighties and early nineties to any new stuff. I like Maiden, Priest, Fates, Sabbath, Metallica, Voivod, Megadeth, Queensryche, Manowar, etc from the eighties + early nineties.
Prof.ManiC: Whats the metal scene like in CA?
Dan Delucie:
I think itıs pretty dead like the rest of the US.
Prof.ManiC: Since my page is devoted to metal and using it to help people control or at least understand their emotions, mind telling us what you like to do when you're feeling down or pissed off to take your mind off it?
Dan Delucie:
I usually play my guitar and write music or lyrics.
Prof.ManiC: What is in the future for Destiny's End? For you? Any other projects by members?
Dan Delucie:
We want to get our second album remixed and get the damn thing released .. Itıs been too long. We plan to start writing for the next one because this one has taken so long and we donıt want the next one to take two years.
Prof.ManiC: Any Final Comments?
Dan Delucie:
Sorry to keep everyone waiting for the new CD...but I think i will be great. Hail! www.destinysend.com
