BIOMECHANICAL
"Eight
Moons" [Revolver]
Here
we have the long-awaited full length debut CD from this very special (to
me) band. Biomechanical are playing a very personal metal genre that many
reviewers around called bio-metal. I'll give you my opinion on their style:
aggressive power metal with a solid thrash portion and a progressive perspective.
The album is actually re-released under Revolver Records with new front
cover (and I guess booklet) and to tell the truth there one thing I didn't
like much. Read on and you'll find out what.
The album includes 9 songs and lyrically it's twirling around a concept
theme about a man-machine that came to the world. The 4 starter songs
are taken (re-recorded and re mastered) from the earlier EP they sent
to the media from promotion and still those tracks are among the best
on the CD. What I didn't like is the "distortion" of the vocals,
which might fit with the whole concept and the thrash elements, but in
my poor opinion John (vocals) has so damn great voice that should be listened
clearly, no need to digitally distort it. The vocal lines can turn from
clear to brutal in parts and that comes out really successfully. Anyway,
because of this they sound much more heavier, while the production is
above average with ease.
"Haunted" is also cool, "Eight Moons" is the soundtrack-alike
tune totally amazing stuff, "Save Me" is their kind of ballad
song with acoustic guitars very nice, while the last one "Point Of
No Return" starts from the ending of the previous one and it's again
mid-tempo emotionally powered, but it turns out to be a crazy tune with
torrent drumming and Pantera-alike vocals!! "No Shadows" is
the weakest song of the album, I didn't find any essence on this one.
Some bands are loved from fans due to their madness in composing, like
Rammstein or Nevermore. And the point is that Biomechanical have their
own mad style and that's their magic which makes them different, unique
and loveable!
