X-Piral were originally formed in 2000 under the name Shadow Play. The band was founded by Nick Papanikolaou (Guitars) and Dimitris Marinis (Synth & Piano). The first to join was Petros Hatzibiros (Guitars) which remained in the band until recently and shortly after Michael Apostolakis (Lead Vocals) became a member of the band. The hard part was to find a drummer. That was when Tolis Makrantonakis joined the band and rehearsals begun while Nick and Dimitris focused on song writing.
About a year later Kostas Liapis (Bass Guitar) joined the band and the first live performance took place. For some months the group made several lives and kept on writing songs when Kostas deceided to leave.
At that moment the decision to begin the recordings for the band''s first full length album named "Poison Eyes" was made. Soon after the recordings Tolis (Drums) left the band due to health reasons. Sadly this was a hard period for the group. The rest of the recordings delayed due to economical reasons and for many months even the rehearsals stopped.
In September 2004 the recordings started again and Fragiskos (Drums) joins the band, while Petros leaves due to musical reasons and Thanos Tzanetopoulos takes his place. The band found out that its former name (ShadowPlay) was copyrighted by another band so after long thought the group came up with name X-Piral.
Right now the band has signed a deal with Burning Star Records and their debut album named "Poison Eyes" will be out by February 2005. X-Piral are also working on new tracks for an upcoming release.
