Morgenstern was formed in
February 1998 by Steffen (vocals, bass), Jens (guitar) , Susanne
(flute, clarinet) and Ulli (vocals , drums). Their first demo
Hexenhammer appeared on the scene in the spring of the same year.
September saw the addition of Dirk (flute, crumhorn, shawm). In
2004 the band delivers Fuego. "Fuego" means fire and in this case,
stands for energy, strength, and power - exactly what the German
medieval rockers wish to express with their music. Lyrics sung in
German.
The name:
Morgenstern (Morningstar): mace - a club-like weapon with blades
or points protruding from a heavy head. the Morningstar consisted
of a spiked metal ball attached by a chain to a wood or metal
handle. by extending the weapon's centre of gravity far from the
hand, the wielder created a great deal of momentum in a swing. the
increased force of impact upon the target was devastatingly
effective against armoured and unarmoured opponents alike. |
