a)
First of all, how you would describe the
sound of the band, does it have anything
to do with (classical) heavy metal or
(current) power metal sounds and song
structures? How much your musical visions
have changed/moved since the birth of the
band?
Well, since the beginning our band has
been trying to combine the best from the
classical heavy metal from the 80-ties
and current power metal, but we don't do
what the majority of power metal bands
like to use nowadays - much keyboard
sounding.
Speaking about the development of our
band, I'd like to say that with every
album we try to change a little bit and
with every album we are becoming heavier
and faster.
b) How you picked up the
band's name, does it have any
specific/deeper meaning?
First of all, the symbol of the Dragon
occurs all around the world. It's to be
found in Europe, among the Celts, in
China, and as Quetzacoatal, the
"Winged Serpent" among the
Aztecs of the New World. In China, the
Dragon symbolizes both the spirit world
and the union of Heaven and Earth. In the
west the Dragon has become a symbol of
power and it is often identified with
warriors. The names of both King Arthur
and Dracula derive from the Power of
dragon - Arthur's surname was
"Pendragon", meaning "Head
of the Dragon" and
"Dracula" means "Ason of
the Dragon" in Wallachian.
Dragon is the greatest creature in
fantasy and it is the combination of
power, wisdom and beauty. When we picked
up this name and it was seven years ago,
the name of the Dragon was not in fashion
among the metal bands yet. And we didn't
know about any band having "dragon'
in their band name. c)
Is this band your sole musical outfit or
do you have other bands/studio projects
too?
Our drummer and bassist are
participating in other bands. Bassist is
in the heavy metal band Black Fox and the
drummer is in the neo-classic power metal
band Phoenix. The others are involved
only in working with Holy Dragons.
d) How you see the internet when it comes
to band issues, what are the advantages
and disadvantages of internet when solely
dealing with band/promotion theme?
Internet is a very powerful thing for
such deals. At present I see more
advantages than disadvantages. Internet
is purely a different reality, it has no
boundaries. Bands can spread their music
practically all over the globe in no
time. And many people from all parts of
our planet can become their fans and it's
great!
e) How you feel about
media's attention to metal music, does it
cover it properly OR in professional
manner?
Well, I think that people
from the media are not always very
professional and efficient about metal
music and very often I'm very much upset
by their coverage of some metal events.
Especially there are lots of musical
critics who know about metal music as
much as about nuclear physics. And when
they try to judge about the things they
are ignorant of, that's very annoying.
f) How the band sees itself
in the local/national metal scene? Do you
feel/have bonds to other bands in the
genre? Do you believe that there is
something like heavy metal brotherhood?
We have good relations and
we support two young metal bands, already
mentioned above : Black Fox and Phoenix.
I really believe that heavy metal
brotherhood exists. And it really helps
us to develop heavy metal on the local
scene too.
g) Is this band live band
too, does playing live give you extra
kick or is it something that you don't
really care about soooo much?
Well, of course, live gigs
give our band lots of energy! It's a
thing you can never be indifferent to.
Being playing live on stage gives any
band air to breathe.
h) Anything to add?
Always be yourself
Listen to music that you like but not
what somebody else makes you listen
Never try to follow the fashion: fashion
comes and goes and real and true things
stay forever
And the last but not least: Stay
Heavy!!!!
All the best from Holy Dragons!
